Easy and fast frequency setting
April 7, 2019, Las Vegas: At the 2019 NAB Conference, Sony announced that a new feature was added to its UWP-D series of wireless microphone systems.
Supports Multi Interface Shoe ™ (MI Hot Shoe) and adds a digital audio interface to provide users with superior sound quality.
➤ The new UWP-D series supports direct recording of digital audio in the camera. Since it has gone through the digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion process, the noise is suppressed to a very low level. Compare it with the new SMAD-P5 The MI Hot Shoe Adapter, combined with Sony XDCAM cameras PXW-Z280 and PXW-Z190 camcorders, provides high-quality sound and low noise.
➤ The new UWP-D system can now also be integrated with the camera at a high level, which can display audio information on the viewfinder, thereby improving usability when shooting in the field.
➤ The new UWP-D series microphones feature a unique "NFC sync" feature, so professional audio professionals can make simple and fast frequency settings between the transmitter and receiver.
➤ The small size and light weight provide excellent mobility flexibility for a wider range of applications, including news production, live production, documentaries, sporting events, wedding celebrations, and more.
The UWP-D series also includes the following models of audio products:
UWP-D21: URX-P40 Portable Receiver & UTX-B40 Bodypack Transmitter
UWP-D22: URX-P40 Portable Receiver & UTX-M40 Handheld Wireless Microphone
UWP-D26: URX-P40 Portable Receiver & UTX-B40 Bodypack Transmitter & UTX-P40 Plug-in Transmitter
>>> James Leach, Product Manager, Sony European Professional Systems Group explains:
"As high-resolution content, including 4K, is gaining popularity in the video production industry, we are also seeing an increasing demand for high-quality audio solutions to match this content and provide an immersive viewing experience.
The challenge for professionals working in modern content production is to create high-quality audio with limited resources in a short period of time. At Sony, we work continuously with our customers to ensure that our solutions meet the real needs of these content professionals.
Our new wireless microphone series has outstanding sound quality, easy operation, and easy integration with existing Sony products, which is also a promise of ours. "
The new UWP-D series also provides convenient integration with Sony XDCAM camcorders-PXW-Z280 and PXW-Z190. Various audio information can be shared between the devices, such as RF level meters, mute status and transmitter's Low battery alert and display this information on the viewfinder.
Utilizing the diverse capabilities of the SMAD-P5 MI Hot Shoe Adapter, the UWP-D series allows audio signals to be transmitted from a wireless receiver to a connected camera without the need for a cable connection.
Another advantage of this feature is the ability to achieve unified power management, as wireless receivers can now receive power from the camera, and the camera's power switch can be synchronized with the receiver. The SMAD-P5 can be used with an analog audio interface and is compatible with selected models of Sony camcorders equipped with MI hot shoes * 2.
As more and more videographers like to operate the camera by one person, in order to provide enhanced usability, it is important to be able to set up RF transmission channels simply and quickly.
The unique new feature of "NFC Sync" is designed for convenient and fast frequency setting. Just hold the NFC sync button on the receiver for a few seconds and it will automatically scan for the appropriate frequency. Then, the user only needs to contact the receiver with the transmitter, and then the channel can be set up with excellent operation speed and efficiency.
In order to meet the industry's demand for enhanced mobility of the equipment, the new UWP-D series is designed to be very compact and lightweight, which can assist various operations. The new UTX-B40 bodypack transmitter is about 20% smaller than the previous model.
In addition, the new SMAD-P5 MI Hot Shoe Adapter combined with the URX-P40 receiver has also been significantly reduced in length, making it easier to use with compact cameras or small digital interchangeable lens cameras.
* Integration with Sony's PXW-Z280 and PXW-Z1901 will be available via a September 2019 firmware upgrade.
* 2 Compatible models will be upgraded on the website.
